The Fungal Rod, unlike other sticks, isn't available at any shop or merchant. Instead, you must complete the Alligator quest to unlock it. To start off, head to Mushgrove Swamp island and speak with the Agaric NPC, who can be found sitting under a mushroom near the coastline. Upon talking to him, he will reveal that an alligator ate his entire family, and now he wants revenge.
To help him, you must catch an alligator, which can easily be found in the pond right next to the Agaric NPC. I recommend using the Steady Rod, as these creatures are quite heavy. Once you catch one, speak with the Agaric NPC again, and he will reward you with the Fungal Rod.
To get Magma Rod, head to the Roslit Bay Island and talk to the Orc NPC near the Roslit Volcano.
